The Martian Residence

The Martin residence in downtown Fargo is a small piece of luxury for Ava and Clark. Their home encompasses the buildings original roaring twenties beauty but also encompasses their love of sustainability and environmentally friendly products throughout the entire home. Their home feels luxurious while bringing natural elements in. Downtown city life is reflected though dark contrast but will feel homely enough so when their guest pays a visit, they as well as everyone else feel comfortable and at home. Inclusive design plays a huge part in the design so not only the Martins will be able to age in place for years to come but also as family members grow old or accidents occur, inclusive design ensures each space is to be use properly.

Living Room

Inspiration for the living room came from the Eileen Gray Bibendum Chair of 1926. The chair is very curvilinear and creates a representation of a plant pot. The chair is very bold yet enticing because of the comfortably stuffed fabric. The main inspiration for Livingroom came from the deep green color of the fabric on this chair. The chair has such a organically modern feel to it. It is important that the chair was complimented by other furniture pieces to bring out the bold rounded edges. The coffee table and the other two side chairs in the living room do just that. All the furniture paired together certainly make the organic feeling the Eileen Gray Bibendum Chair of 1926 come out. Green is such a beautiful color but challenging to find colors to complement it while keeping the space feel airy and bright. White seemed like the perfect option to find a balance though it all so the side chairs are white with the same green colored pillows to complement the chair again. Keeping everything coherent with the rounded edges is essential while breaking it up with a few more square pieces creates a family and togetherness.

Entry Way

When you walk in you'll have the opportunity to make use of the closet. The closet is complemented with a bamboo covering for a modern and sustainable twist. The artwork featured above the console table is from a local artist by the name of Lisa Burns.

Check Out Area

This fully accessible bathroom is equipped with a role in the shower for aging-in-place purposes. Here we used a beautiful art deco wall paper and took those greens to tie in the vanity.
